Farmer’s Market, Outdoor Movies, and More on Market Square in Downtown Knoxville.
Part of the East Tennessee experience is not only the Smoky Mountains but the host of arts and cultural activities. While visiting the Smokies for fall colors and Christmas lights make a trip over to Knoxville’s Market Square. From a Farmer’s Market to outdoor movies, there are activities going on almost daily. Rich in history, the square is home to an eclectic mix of restaurants and shops.
Stay at the historic 28-room Hotel St. Oliver (pictured below) to wake up and walk out your front door for breakfast outside on the square. Then walk to a host of activities like visiting the beautiful East Tennessee History Center, modern Knoxville Museum of Art, latest exhibition at The Emporium, or a live show at WDVX. Shop-till-you-drop and relax before heading out to dinner at any number of restaurants like Tomato Head, La Costa, Downtown Grill & Brewery. Cap off the night with a Jazz Orchestra concert at the historic Tennessee Theatre, a play at the Bijou Theatre, movie at the Regal Riviera 8, or any number of live music acts.
Farmer’s Markets are every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The square will be a hot spot for New Year’s Eve. Check with the Market Square District Association and the Knoxville Tourism and Sports Corporation for a calendar of events.
