Pigeon Forge visitors love to bring their furry companions along to enjoy the Smokies with them, but there are plenty of things you should know before you bring them along.
First make sure your accommodations are pet friendly! A lot of the cabins or private rentals in the area are pet friendly, but thehotels on the parkway are not always as accommodating to your pets. So make sure you ask first before booking. Also, make sure you have read the guidelines of bringing your pet into the National Park. You are not allowed to bring dogs into the backcountry of the park or on hiking trails, they allowed in campgrounds, picnic areas, and along roads, but must be kept on a leash at all times. What to do if you decide you would like to visit Cades Cove or go on a hike? The Barker Lounge is a cage-less daycare center for your pup. He/she will have plenty of play time with other friends, snack time and nap time. It’s a vacation for your pet, if they can’t tag along with you!
As for what you can do with them while you’re out and about in town, there are lots of fun places that are very dog friendly! The Smoky Mountain Dog House is a small boutique dedicated to dogs! Of course, dogs are allowed in the store, but be sure they are on a leash and be very careful of the breakables in the store. The Comedy Barn Theater is the only place where you can enjoy a show with your pet! This is a family friendly variety show that actually features a group of rescue dogs as part of the show. Well mannered pets are welcome to attend the show with their owners. Excessive barkers or aggressive dogs will not be allowed to stay in the theater. Any other dog can sit on your lap or curl up at your feet while you are entertained! Also, there are plenty of great restaurants in the area that have patios where you are welcome to eat outside in the company of your pet!
